What's Shakin'?

Good morning to you and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
I have several friends with birthdays coming up in the near future and thought I better get busy on some cards.  Now, one of these friends is an excellent cook, so I thought it would be a great time to try out a couple of new stamps sets I recently received from Pink By Design. I knew that I wanted a birthday card, but I also wanted a little something extra to go with the card.  So....this is what I came up with....

I decided to create a couple of cute little magnets in the same theme as the birthday card. The sentiments used on this project are from the Kitchen Puns set and the images are from What's Shakin'?. I love the way this little gift set turned out! Let me show you how I made the magnets...

I used my Nestabilities Eyelet Circles to cut a layer of thin chipboard and a layer of patterned paper.  I inked up the edges with Ranger Ink and adhered the layers with Zip Dry glue.  Here's a tip for you, save the backs from your Paper Stacks, they make wonderful chipboard for projects like this!

Next, I used my circle Nestabilities die cut to cut 2 white circles.  I stamped my image and sentiment, colored with Copics and inked up the edges.

I used pop-dots between the two circles, then adhered them to the bottom layer.  A few black gems add a bit of bling to my magnet...gotta have some bling!

I found these great magnet sheets that are just stick and peel.  I used my circle die cut to cut the magnet the exact size I needed, peeled the paper off and there you go!

I used Eyelet Squares from Nestabilites for my square magnet.  I also used a bit of Diamond Stickles inside the shaker to mimic the look of salt.

For the card, I used a white mat embossed with Cricut's Polka Dots embossing folder.  I added some black ribbon and that cute little flower.  Here's another little tip...I had a jar full of pre-made flowers but they all had bright colored centers like hot pink and yellow.  I really didn't want to put a flower together...so....I got out my circle punch and used it on my patterned paper and...ta...dah!...a perfectly coordinating, custom flower!

Well, there you go, that's my birthday gift set!  I'm really happy that you stopped by today and I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put this all together. I always enjoy seeing how other crafters put things together, it gives me a different perspective and I almost always learn some little trick I didn't know.

If you haven't already, I hope you will stop by Pink By Design and check out the lovely new blog and all the wonderful projects the Design Team has put together.  There is also a great new crafting community with challenges, tips, techniques and a gallery to show off your projects.  While you are there, don't forget to check out the fabulous Anniversary Give-aways and Events.  You never know, you may be the winner of one of these great prizes!  Ok, that's if for now...I'll be back soon, enjoy your day!

Until next time,
Tanya
