Snail Mail

Hello and happy Friday to you!
Are you ready for the weekend? I think my weekend is going to be spent in my jammies, playing in my craft room with an occasional break to read a book by the pool. It's been a busy week and I'm ready to relax with some ink and paper and maybe soak up a bit of sun!
So, I recently became a "club member" over at The Stamps of Life.  I've got to say, I really love the sweet little stamp sets that Stephanie creates.  They are just super cute and have some fun sentiments to go along with them. Last month's set was called "snails2mail" and this is what I came up with while playing with this cute set.....
I had just purchased this sweet paper from the "Fern & Forest" line by Little Yellow Bicycle and I thought the little gnome would be perfect with the snail from my new stamp set.

I paper pieced the snail with coordinating papers from the paper stack and added a twine bow.  The sentiment mat is from the Silhouette Online Store and I thought the postage stamp edges made it perfect for this card.
As I was writing up this post I realized that I never chose a winner for the stamp set my sweet friend Kimberly from My Craft Spot generously offered in honor of my Guest Designer Spot on her blog!  So, let's take care of that right now!  The winner is......

Such an awesome project! I just love the fun sentiment you used. Your glass jar is just beautiful and the card is the perfect compliment to it! Congrats on being a guest designer. Kimberly has so many fabulous stamps, the tiny tags are my favorite!
Congrats to you Sukie!  Please send me an email (use the Contact Corner tab at the top of my blog) with you mailing address and the name of the stamp set you would like to have and I'll get that info to Kimberly.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a visit - I always enjoy your visits and love to read your sweet comments.  I hope you have a wonderfully creative, restful weekend!

PPPR Design Team Day

Good morning and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
It's Design Team day over at Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons and I have a special project for a special little boy to share with you today.

My oldest grandson, Blake, will be starting his first year of Pre-school in just a few days.  I'm so proud of him and so excited for him. I hope he loves going to school, meeting new friends and having lots of new adventures!  I wanted to make him a little treat to mark this special day and here's what I came up with....

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Cutting Files used:
* Apple and Schoolhouse - Back 2 School Cutting Files
* Bag Topper - Layered Labels 1
* Sentiment mat - Sentiment Spots 1

Card:
* I used the "offset" feature in my software to create a cardbase for my card.  I cut the base from Kraft paper and added my assembled schoolhouse. I added a few stitching lines using a black gel pen.
* The bell is cut from gold cardstock and covered with gold glitter.
* I added a silver colored pearl for the door knob

Stamps used on card:
* "School" and "Pre-K" are both from Peachy Keen Stamps - PKSC-08

Treat Bag:
* Face - Peachy Keen Stamps - PK-180
* Trendy Twine in "Totally White"

And there you have it!

Congrats!

Hello everyone and happy Monday to you!
Did you ever make a card that just made you smile?  Today's card is one of those - it just makes me happy.  I like that!  I recently won some wonderful blog candy from a talented bloggy friend of mine - that made me smile also!  My friend Karon from Karon's Krafty Korner had a sweet little give-away with all sorts of pretty paper and embellishments in lovely shades of blue. I was so happy to hear that I was her winner and I had lots of fun playing with all those shades of blue....

Doesn't this just make you smile?

Supplies used for this card:
* The papers and pretty twine flower are both from Karon - her daughter made the flower!
* Kite stamp and sentiment are from the "kites2fly" stamp set by The Stamps of Life
* White twine - Trendy Twine

This card was quick and easy to put together.  Having all those fun blue prints made it super simple to paper piece my kite without having to search for just the right color match.

Thanks again Karon for the fun blog candy - I'm really enjoying it!
And, thanks to everyone for stopping by today. As always, I enjoy your visits and sweet comments. Enjoy the rest of your Monday and I'll be seeing you soon...

I found this cute little easel at Hobby Lobby. It has a chalkboard on one side and a white board on the other side.  I thought it would be perfect for Emma to keep up with her homework assignments and important info for school.

For this side of the easel, I used the following:
* Title and Apple - Back 2 School Cutting Files
* Glasses on apple - Java Great Day Cutting Files
* Eyes on Apple - Peachy Keen Stamps - PK-1202

And, here's the other side......

For the side, I used the following:
The letters are from the Silhouette Online Store

I really love the way this turned out and I hope Emma will put it to good use now that she is in the 3rd Grade ....gasp...how did that happen?

I'm a Guest Designer at My Craft Spot!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner.
I'm so glad you stopped by today because I can't wait to share my project with you!  My sweet friend, Kimberly, from My Craft Spot recently asked me to be a Guest Designer on her blog.  I love the beautiful stamps Kimberly designs and was thrilled that she asked me.

I decided to work with her sweet "Feel Better Soon" stamp set for my project.....

When I first saw the fun "Chocolate Prescription" sentiment, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  So, I headed off to Hobby Lobby and found just what I was looking for - the perfect glass jar!  And, I found it, this jar reminds me of the type you see in a Doctor's office.

Recipe:
* I cut out a label I found at the Silhouette Online Store and stamped my sentiment onto the top layer using Versamark ink in "Vintage Sepia".  I inked up the edges of both layers, glued them together then glued the finished label to the center of my jar.
* I added some beautiful "Milk Chocolate" Crinkle Ribbon (also available at My Craft Spot) to the top of my jar and glued it into place. I topped that off with a big bow with a pink gem in the center.
* For the finishing touch to my jar, I added some yummy chocolate covered almonds!

* For my card, I created a 5 X 5 inch ivory card base and inked up the edges.
* Next, I added a chocolate brown layers and 9 squares of pretty printed paper - all inked up with the Vintage Sepia ink.
* The lovely flower is from the Silhouette Online Store and all the petals and leaves were inked up also. I added a dark brown fabric covered brad to the center.
* My sentiment is also from Kimberly's "Wishing You Well" stamp set.  I stamped it onto ivory cardstock and inked up the edges. Next, I covered it with Glossy Accents and coarse, crystal glitter for a bit of sparkle.
* For the final touch, I added another brad to the end of my sentiment banner and adhered it to my card.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have enjoyed your visit! And, I hope you will stop by Kimberly's Blog - My Craft Spot to see her wonderful stamps, dies and ribbons. Be sure to check out the stamps because I have a little surprise for you!  Kimberly has generously offered a free set of stamps for me to give away!   How wonderful is that?  Here's what you need to to:

1) Stop by My Craft Spot and see all the wonderful stamp sets Kimberly has to offer
2) Choose your favorite set
3) Come back here and leave me a comment telling me your choice
That's it...easy peasy!  I'll choose a random winner on Tuesday, August 27th.

Before I go, I want to thank Kimberly again for letting me play with her lovely stamps!
I hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll be seeing you soon.....

Peachy Keen Challenge 13-34

Hello everyone and welcome!
It's that time of the week again...time for another Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge.  This week our challenge is to create one of those cards that we don't look forward to making, but one that we unfortunately need to have on hand.  Our challenge this week is to create a Sympathy Card.  Here are the guidelines for the challenge:
THE CHALLENGE
Create a card using a sympathy theme.
We'll be awarding "TOP PEACH" to the player who uses their Peachy Keen Stamps this week and  our two runner ups will receive a spiffy badge to display on their blog!
Guidelines:
- Design must be new
- Link up by 8/28 - 11:59 pm EST

And, here is my card.....
Recipe:
* I started with a dark brown 4.5 X 4.5 cardbase.
* For my next layer, I used a pretty teal blue, distressed the edges and inked them up with Versamark ink in Vintage Sepia.
* The top layer is cut of Kraft paper and stamped with the Peachy Keen Background Stamp Copper Ceiling Tile (PK-189). I also distressed and inked up the edges of this layer.
* Next, I used my sewing machine to add a bit of stitching around the layers.

* I added some pretty, dark brown velvet ribbon to the bottom portion of my card.
* The flower is from the Silhouette Online Store and is cut from Kraft paper.  I added some coarse glitter for a bit of sparkle and a pretty brad in the center. I wish you could see the sparkle better in this photo, but I just could not get a good shot.
* The sentiment is from the PK-1334 Stamp Set.

*In this photo, you can see the dimension in the flower -still can't see the sparkle :(

Okay, so that's my card for this week's challenge!  Be sure to stop by the Peachy Keen Stamps Blog and see the beautiful Sympathy cards created by our Design Team.  I hope you will join in our challenge this week and I look forward to seeing what you create!

Try New Things

Hello everyone and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
Well, I finally did it - I took the Art Journal that I purchased several months ago off the shelf, pulled out all those pretty bottles of sprays and faced my fear - DOUBLE blank pages....eeeeekkkk!

I've had all the supplies for quite some time now and I've watched the videos, looked over the tutorials, scanned Pinterest, but still could not see myself putting a single page together...sigh.  I think the problem is that I don't see myself as an "artist" because I can't draw, I don't paint, heck...I don't even own an easel.  My sweet granddaughter refers to me as an artist - but then she still thinks I can do most anything (ahhh...sweet naivety)!  Back to my argument with myself - if I can't do any of those things AND don't own an easel - just who do I think I am buying an ART Journal?

Despite all the negative thoughts going on inside my head, I started going through some stamps looking for some inspiration.  I found some great sentiments, then I found the perfect image, and then I just went nuts with all those fun little bottles. And, before you know it - I was having FUN!

Now, before I show you the photos, I have a disclaimer to make.  This Art Journal is not likely to remind you of any Art Journal you may have seen on Facebook, or Pinterest, or YouTube....but that's okay - it's MY Art Journal!  And you know what?  I may just become an artist when I grow up - or maybe a cowgirl, I haven't decided yet.......

Okay - remember to be kind in your comments, please ♥

At this point I usually give you the "recipe" for my project, but this happened all too quickly and I'm not even sure how it happened to tell you the truth!  I did use my new supply of "Dylusions Ink Sprays".  I have about 6 or 7 colors and I think I must have used them all!

The sweet little Artist is "Artist Marci" from La-La Land Stamps.  I used a CTMH stamp for the sentiment on her easel.  (See, I told ya a real artist has an easel).  Most of the larger sentiments are from the Pink By Design "Subway Art" stamp set.

The butterflies and chevrons are from Close to my Heart stamp sets.

I used white acrylic paint and a stencil for the border in the top left corner.  The journal tag is from the "Journal It" stamp set by My Creative Time.

Now that I have my first couple of pages under my belt (and it didn't hurt a bit) I'm anxious to give it another try.  It's a messy process and I have an ink stain that looks very much like a huge bruise on my arm to prove it - but it's also lots of fun!  Maybe for my next page I'll do a cowgirl theme...hmmm....

Until next time,

I ruff you!

Hello everyone and Happy Friday!
Are you as happy as I am that Friday finally rolled around?  It's Emma's last weekend before school starts back and we have a fun-filled, "farewell to summer" weekend planned for her.  So, before we get started, I thought I would pop on here and share another  Peachy Keen Stamps cutie with you.....

This little guy was tough to photograph because I kept catching a glare from the cellophane bag.

Recipe:
* I used the "Fancy Topper Die" from Jaded Blossom
* My cute little pup, bone and sentiment are all from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set PKSC-20
* I also used a bit of "Totally White" twine from Trendy Twine

* I added a few gems to his collar and some Glossy Accents to his eyes.
* Next I added a tiny little heart to the collar and glittered it up with some red Stickles.

* I filled my gusset bag with some fun, colorful gumballs and it's all ready to give to someone special ♥

Okay, that's if for me today - I'm off to finish up a few things for our "farewell to summer weekend"!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll be seeing you soon....

Happy Birthday - Despicable Me Style!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner.
Today is Design Team Day over at Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons and I've got a fun birthday project to share with you.  I always seem to have trouble coming up with something for the older boys in our family. The little guys are pretty easy, but the pre-teens and teens always leave me wondering what in the world to do.

Well, we had a special birthday guy in our family this week, and I think I may have come up with the right combination this time!  How cute is this little guy from the Minions Cutting Files.......

Isn't this fun?

Recipe:
* I started with a little metal can that I ordered a long time ago (sorry don't remember where it came from).  The can is about 3.5 X 5.5 inches.
* I cut a mat from some fun star patterned paper for my background.
* The red zig-zag at the bottom of my mat is from the Borders 3 Cutting Files
* And that fun little Minion is from the Minions Cutting Files - there are 3 Minions in the file and they are so stinkin' cute!

* I added a strip of red zig-zag around the outside of the can.  Next, I used pop-dots to adhere my Minion to the top of the can.
* The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set PKSC-04.  I stamped the sentiment onto a little banner I cut using the Sentiment Spots 1 Cutting Files.

And, here is my can open and filled with goodies!  I thought I couldn't go wrong with the candy and cash combo!

Well, that's it for me today. But, you will want to stop by the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Blog to see what the other Designers have to share with you today.  They are an amazing group of talented ladies and you don't want to miss their projects!  As always, I appreciate your visit and your sweet comments.  I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll be seeing you soon....

Until next time,

You have a way....

Hello everyone and happy Monday to you.
I hope your day is going well for you.  I've been cleaning house a bit (never ending job) and I'm about to head out to the grocery store (one of my least favorite jobs).  Thought I would stop in to share a sweet little card with you before I head out.

My card was inspired by the pretty card recently shared by Miss Emma from My Creative Time.
And, here's my card....

Recipe:
* I started with a white card base and added a layer of teal blue.
* Using the lightbulb die from the "You're Brilliant" stamp set from My Creative time, I cut the image in the lower corner of my striped paper.
* Next, I placed the striped layer onto the teal blue layer and lightly traced the lightbulb image onto the teal paper with a pencil.
* I filled in my traced area with some pretty star shaped glitter by Martha Stewart.  The silver portion is filled in with Stickles.

* I added a bright orange bow and stamped my sentiment (also from the "You're Brilliant" set) along the bottom of my card.
* Using pop dots, I adhered the top layer to my card base.

I love the way this bright, happy card came together.
Well, I guess I'm off to the grocery store.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Until next time,

Hello there

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday to you!
My name is Tanya and I have a confession to make.....
I am a stamp hoarder!

The amount of stamps I have stashed away can no longer be considered borderline hoarding - it has become full-on, without a doubt, big time hoarding!  The major problem I see with this is that I'm not really using the stamps, just falling in love with the sweet little images, purchasing them, and adding them to my collection. I am so intimidated by many of these stamps because they look so fabulous when colored up by the designers who create them. I pull them out, look at them and think - no way can I make that look as cute as so and so did on their blog.  So.... there they sit with those oh-so-sweet faces and cute sentiments just waiting to be inked up only to get passed by as I work with something I'm more comfortable and familiar with.

So...I'm thinking that it's time to move out of my comfort zone and get inky with some of these poor, neglected stamps!  I think I'm going to give it a try with a few challenges here and there to get me motivated and give me a push in the right direction.  Today, I worked on a stamp by "The Greeting Farm".  I have so many of these little cuties in my collection and have actually colored up a couple of them.  I've never really been happy with a completed project, but I'm going to keep trying!
This week there is a color challenge going on at the Greeting Farm Blog so I thought I would just jump right in, choose one of my many stamps, get inky and play along.....
I'm still not thrilled with my results, but at least I gave it a try.
The art of coloring realistic hair still eludes me, but I intend to master it one fine day!  I also find it hard to color an image using only the colors for the challenge.

Recipe:
* The Greeting Farm - "Garden Anya"
* Papers - Fancy Pants - "Park Bench"
* Felt flower - Fancy Pants
*Sentiment - My Creative Time - "Teeny Tiny Greetings"
* Martha Stewart Punch
* Spellbinders Oval Die

Okay, so there you go - one card from my "non-comfort" zone!
It really wasn't as painful as I thought it would be and it feels good to work with a stamp that has been sitting in a drawer collecting dust for so long.  I think I'll go have another look into that drawer and find something else to work with.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  It's nice to have other crafters to "confess" to!  Now, you fess up....what do you hoard in your crafting supplies?  Leave your confession in your comment, I know I can't be the only hoarder around here and I'm curious to see what you have stashed away!

Okay, I'm off to get really brave and link my card up over at The Greeting Farm Blog.  I'll be talking with you soon....

Until next time,

PKS - Office Supply Challenge

Hi there and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
I've got a fun challenge to share with you today - it's the "Office Supply Challenge" going on over at the Peachy Keen Connection in honor of the August Stamp Release.  Melissa is the hostess for this challenge and here are the rules:

Melissa's Challenge:
 Office Supply Challenge
"Raid the office"  Make a project with your Peachy Keen Stamps and include some everyday office supplies. (Notebook paper, paper clip, post-it notes ,pencils... get creative)
We're sponsoring TWO challenges this month and will be awarding one $25 Gift Certificate to one random winner from each challenge.  If you enter both challenges, you double your chances of winning a prize, but you do need to create one project for each challenge, as combining challenges is not allowed.
Using Peachy Keen Stamps on your project IS a requirement if you want to be considered to win the Gift Certificate!
You will have ONE FULL WEEK until Monday, August 12th at Midnight to play along.
We will randomly choose a winner from each group of challenge entries.  Those winners will be announced and their photo featured here on the PK Connection on Tuesday, August 13th.

And, here's my take on Melissa's challenge....

Recipe:
* I started with a small spiral bound notebook of index cards.  The notebook had a clear cover so I stapled the pretty aqua cardstock on the inside of the cover.
* I used the kitten face and paws from this month's new release PKSC-20.  I colored him up with my Copic markers and arranged him behind my "notes label".

* I used the text feature on my Cameo to cut out the letters for the word "notes".  Then I used the offset feature to create a mat for the letters.
* For my office supplies I used the following: notebook, staples, fun paper clip.

This was quick and easy to put together and I really think it's kinda cute!
Thanks so much for stopping by today and I look forward to seeing your office supplies put to good use over at The Peachy Keen Connection!

Until next time,

Back to School Notebook

Good morning and happy Wednesday to you!
I'm glad you stopped by today because it's my turn to post on the Peachy Keen Stamps Blog and I've got a sweet back-to-school project to share with you. My granddaughter, Emma begins the 3rd grade in just a few days.  I thought I would put together a fun little notebook so that she can write down all those important things third graders need to keep up with.....

Recipe:
* I started with some chipboard that I cut down to 4.5 X 5.5 inches.  I covered the front and back with some cute school prints and inked up the edges.
* After cutting my paper for the inside pages, I used my Cinch to bind everything together with some fun red binding wire.  Then it was time to decorate!
* The notebook paper and schoolhouse stamps are from the August 2012 Peachy Keen Stamp Club set - PKSC-08.

* I used the letters from PK-155 to spell out Emma's name and colored them in with a Copic Marker.
* I added a bit of "Blue Berry" Twine from Trendy Twine and a cute pair of red glasses to finish up the front of my notebook.

Here's a look at the inside.....

* I created a pocket for the inside cover using a file from the Silhouette Online Store.
* The scalloped circle is from a Spellbinders Die.  I added a fun apple with glasses and "A+" in the bottom corner of my pocket - both of these images are from the PKSC-08 set.
* I randomly stamped the pencil and apple onto pages in the notebook so that Emma can do a bit of doodling ..... during her free time of course!

Here's a photo of the tag that goes in the pocket...

I will be linking up my cute little notebook at the following challenges:
* Craftin' Desert Diva's Linky Party
The Paper Nest Dolls Challenge Blog

And that pretty much wraps up my project!
Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Have a wonderful day and I'll be seeing you soon.....

Until next time,

I didn't do it!

Hello and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
How has your Monday been?  Mine started out pretty good, but I seem to have lost my mojo somewhere along the way.  That's not a good thing because I have a project that I really need to finish.  But, it seems like every time I give it another try I either goof something up or just don't like what I've done. Time to walk away and leave it alone for awhile......

So, while my project sits...uncompleted....on my desk, let me show you what I made for one of the new challenges going on over at the Peachy Keen Connection.  Did you make it to the Release Party tonight?  If not, you can still see the conversation and awesome projects posted by clicking here.  There are two great challenges that just started tonight:
1) Back To School
2) Office Supplies

My granddaughter starts back to school in just a few days so I made this card for the "Back to School" challenge with Emma in mind...

Recipe:
* Notebook paper is from the Peachy Keen Stamp set PKSC-08.  I wrote the word "Homework" then stamped on those cute little paw prints using the new background stamp PK-1332.
* After I stamped everything, I crumpled up the paper and inked up the edges and creases.
* The cute little pup (who is trying to look really tough and fooling no one) and fun sentiment is from the new add-on set PK-1333

Emma lives in a home filled with siblings and family pets so I thought this card was perfect for a back-to-school reminder about getting homework finished and put away before "something" happens to it...lol!

I hope you get a chance to join in one or both of our challenges.  The challenge runs through August 12th and there is a 25.00 gift certificate up for grabs!  You can see all the details at The Peachy Keen Connection.

All of the gorgeous new stamps from this month's release are now available at the Peachy Keen Store.  And, right now through August 12th they are 25% off....yippee!  Okay, that's about it for me right now - I'm off to see if I can find my missing mojo.  Let me know if you find it, please.....

Until next time,

Sunday, August 4, 2013

In the doghouse......

Hello bloggy friends and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
I'm so happy that you stopped by because it is finally my turn to post a "sneak peek" over at the Peachy Keen Stamps Blog!  The new stamps from this month's release are just so stinkin' cute that I haven't been very patient about waiting for my turn and I've already snuck (don't think that's really a word, but it works for me) a couple of projects. If you missed them, you can see them here and here.  And...now....it's finally time for my "official sneak peek", so here we go.....

* I made a little treat bag using the "K Cup Treat" cutting files from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.  Using my white gel pen, I added a few stitching lines around the bag.
* Next I created some grass using a MS punch and some pretty green polka dot paper.
* All of the sweet images on this project are from the August Stamp Club from Peachy Keen Stamps.

* All of the images are colored with my Copic markers.  I added a few gems to the dog collar and some Glossy Accents to the cute little pup's eyes.
* I created a sign for the doghouse using a sign file from the Silhouette Online Store and the cute little dog treat image from the stamp set.

* I searched several stores before finally finding the "Scooby Snacks" cookies that I just had to have for this fun treat bag!  I added a few to a cellophane bag, stapled it and used my ATG to adhere it to the inside of my treat bag.
* I added a Hook & Tab fastener to the inside at the top of my bag so that it can be opened and re-closed again and again.
* A bit of white Crinkle ribbon and that cute sentiment finished up this project perfectly!
