Lawnscaping Challenge #98

Hi there and welcome to Studio 5380!

I really enjoy the fun challenges over at the Lawnscaping Challenges Blog because they usually make me work outside of my comfort zone.  Which is great because it makes me try techniques that are new to me or techniques that I wouldn't try to attempt on my own.

The current challenge is to create a background using your Lawn Fawn stamps. Now, I have to admit that I have so much beautiful paper on hand that if I craft for the rest of my life I will never run out of background paper! So, this is probably one of those techniques that I would never attempt on my own.  I enjoyed the challenge, but it sure took me a while to decide what stamps I wanted to use. There so many fun, tiny little Lawn Fawn stamps to choose from! But, here's what I finally came up with for this challenge.....

I created my background first using a Stitched Rectangle Die to create my mat.  Next, I randomly stamped the cute little bee from the Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp set.  I colored the bees with Copic Markers, adding dotted lines behind each bee with a Copic Multiliner Pen.

I also used a Copic Marker (BG000) to lightly color the white mat. I was trying to go for a light, airy feeling and kept it loose and open rather than completely covering the mat.

I added some fun Stickles in Frosted Lace to the wings of each bee for a bit of sparkle.  After the glitter was dry, I inked up the sides of my mat, tied a black ribbon around the mat and adhered the mat to my black cardbase.

I created a smaller mat (again using the Stitched Rectangle Dies) and colored it in with my BG000 Copic Marker.  I stamped on the grass using the Gnome Sweet Gnome set and stamped the adorable little Gnome onto another piece of cardstock. I colored him up and paper pieced his hat, fussy cut him out and adhered him to the smaller mat with foam tape. Those tiny little hearts were cut out with a die from the Trim The Tree set. Next, I used more foam tape to add the smaller mat to my card.

And, I always like to add a sweet touch to the inside of my cards....

And I think I'm done!
Now I'm off to link up my card at the Lawnscaping Challenge Blog...

Thanks so much for stopping in for a visit - I really appreciate it!
Have a great day and I'll be seeing you soon....

  1. You rocked it, Tanya! That is the cutest background. Love those sweet bees. This may sound stupid but my favorite part is the trails behind the bees. They aren't the same and not all long and curly. They actually make me picture the bees flitting around...like bees. This is fantastic!
