Hello Friend!

Hi there and welcome to Studio 5380.
Thanks for stopping by!

Today's post is going to be short and sweet - lots to accomplish yet and this weekend is almost over (where, oh where does the weekend go?).  So, let's get to it!  For this card, I pulled out several Distress Ink Stamp pads and a couple of happy Lawn Fawn stamp sets....

The sunflowers are from the Lawn Fawn "Our Friendship Grows" stamp set.  I used Distress Inks in Rusty Hinge, Mustard Seed, Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint to watercolor the flowers and leaves.

The center of each sunflower was covered with Wink of Stella Glitter in Brown.
I stamped my sentiment (from the Feathered Friends stamp set) onto a strip of vellum and heat embossed it with brown embossing powder.

Inside of my card.

I water-colored the background with Distress Ink in one of my favorite colors, Salty Ocean.

Okay, that about wraps things up!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great week and I'll see you soon....

Mahalo

Hi there and welcome to Studio 5380.
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  Mine has been pretty lazy and I have accomplished very little, but that's okay...Monday is coming and I'll play "catch-up"!

I want to take a minute to say a big "thank you" to everyone who stopped by and left such sweet comments on my last post.  Going back to work at my age has really been an adjustment and I'm still trying to find the right balance, but I'm getting there. And, your kind, encouraging comments reminded me of just how important it is to carve out that time reserved just for me (you ladies are awesome).  So, with that in mind, I headed upstairs to my Studio for a bit of inky time yesterday afternoon, determined to play along with the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge. While I'm not completely happy with the way my card came out, I really enjoyed the time I spent playing. I colored this adorable little Hula girl 3 or 4 times but was never pleased with the way she turned out. This is a darling image and I didn't do her justice, but here we go.....

I really had fun creating the background for my card.
I mixed some texture paste with a little brown ink then smoothed it onto my card base through the Wonky Chevron stencil from My Favorite Things.

While that was drying, I cut an oval from white cardstock using the Cross Stitch Oval die set.

I inked up the sky and water using various inks. Using my texture paste and brown ink mixture, I created my "sand".  After the texture paste was completely dry, I add some Brown Wink of Stella Glitter for some contrast and sparkle.

I added a few flowers and some Wink of Stella Clear Glitter to finish up the inside of my card.

And, here's a photo of the sketch in case you would like to play along...

Thanks again for stopping by today.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope to see you soon....

Hello My Deer

Hi there and welcome to Studio 5380.
I cannot believe that it has been almost a month since I last blogged!
I recently returned to the working world (part time) and it's taking me a while to get back into the groove of balancing work, family and creative time. This week has been a little easier and I'm hoping that I will soon have a balance that doesn't leave me exhausted, stressed and wiped out at the end of the day....because I am seriously missing my inky time!

So, this afternoon, after leaving work and before picking up my grands for church, I managed to sneak in about an hour (the dusting and vacuuming will just have to wait) to play in my Studio. I finished up a card that I started a long time ago. The images had all been colored and I just need to put everything together, but it felt wonderful to actually complete something.

The images on my card are from the adorable stamp set, Oh, Deer, from Your Next Stamp....

The circle mat is cut with a Cross Stitch Circles Die by My Favorite Things and I colored the background with Distress Inks.

A simple layout is all I needed to pull this card together.
I used these pretty prints from My Favorite Things, a bit of seam binding, a few enamel dots and a sweet flower that I colored to match with my Copic Air Brush System.

Wow...that felt good!
Hopefully it won't take me another month to get creative again.  I'm going to try to squeeze in some creative time for myself this weekend (so, the dust can wait a bit longer) and do some bloggy visits. I've missed seeing what you ladies have been up to these days!

Hope to see you soon....
