Jolly Holidays...I love this new cartridge!

Knowing how very, very much I hate...hate....looooathe to go out into the crazy world of BLACK FRIDAY,  and knowing how very much I wanted the new Cricut Lite "Jolly Holidays", my sweet, sweet husband braved the crowds and went to not one, but TWO Walmarts to purchase this cart for me!  Not only did he find Jolly Holidays, he also picked up Inspired Hearts for me because he thought I would like it....go ahead....aaawwwwww. Yep, he's a keeper!

I really am enjoying Jolly Holidays.  There are so many cute cuts on this cart!

This card was made with one of the adorable little elves from the cart.  I used cute, cute paper from K & Company and lots of Stickles.  I think the stamp was from the dollar bin at Michaels.  I used my paper scraps to make a couple of very sweet gift tags.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Thanksgiving Feast with my favorite Kindergartener!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!  I had the honor of being a guest at my Granddaughter's Thanksgiving Feast at her school...isn't she the cutest little Indian you've seen lately?  Can't beleive that she is in Kindergarten and will be turning 6 years old at the end of this month!  I am very thankful that I have been able to spend so much time with her and pray that I see her grow into the wonderful young woman that I know she will be.

Snowman Card

Ok, I have been watching other blogs and message boards for projects done with Copic Markers, and I must say that I am very envious of the skill level shown by some of you people...(you know who you are)!  So, I finally decided that I simply could not absorb any Copic skills by just blog watching...[big sigh].  After coming to this sad conclusion, I decided maybe practice would help with my sorely lacking skills...worth a try I guess.  Anyway, after some scribbling coloring some "samples", I decided to try working on a "real" project.  While it's no masterpiece, I was somewhat pleased with my efforts and decided what the heck, I'll enter it into a couple of challenges this week.  So, here goes nothing.......be kind.....

* Paper - My Mind's Eye (Wonderful Winter & Holiday Avenue)
* Snowman Stamp - Stampassions
* MS Scallop Punch
* Nestabilities - Big Scalloped Squares
* Copic Markers

I am going to enter this card into the following Challenges:

         Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a look.  I always appreciate the comments you leave!

Mojo Monday Challenge 165

Good Morning! I hope everyone is off to a great start today. I hit the floor running this morning with a list of things to get accomplished today!  I finished up this card last night and my list for today includes posting it to the Mojo Monday Challenge.  This is the first time I have entered one of their challenges, and it is a bit intimidating as they have some awesome entries!  I never expect to actually win any of the challenges I enter, but it is really alot of fun to participate and sometimes makes me work little outside my comfort zone (always a good thing).  Check them out at http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/.  This is a great site to visit for inspiration!

For this challenge I used the following:
* Very cute paper - Winter Wonderland paper stack from My Mind's Eye
* Snowflake border is from an EK punch, covered in MS glitter
* Scalloped circles are from Mini Monograms cut at 3 1/2 inches
* Snowman is from Winter Woodland cut at 3 inches and covered with MS glitter

As always, thanks for looking and for your kind comments!  Off to finish (hopefully) that list!

Christmas Cards with Winter Frolic Cartridge

I have had a great time today working on Christmas cards.  Today was one of those days where I pretty much let everything else go, went upstairs to my crafting space, made a huge mess and just had a great time!

I have had the Winter Frolic cartridge for a couple of months and just haven't played around with it yet...what a great cart this has turned out to be. There are so many cuts that can be used for both Christmas and winter projects.  I think this will be a cart that I end up using alot.

Usually when I make a card, I end up with lots of little pieces of paper left over and I never know what to do with them.  This time, I decided to see if I could go a ahead and use up most, if not all, of those scraps.  I started out with 2 sheets of double-sided paper from Martha Stewart's "Playful Blue" stack.  Knowing that I could probably get at least 2 cards, I thought I would use basically the same cuts and see if I could come up with two different looks:

*For the larger card, I used a piece of red felt ribbon to run down the middle of the card.  I used the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder for the white background and cut my trees at 4 1/2 inches.  The stamp is from Stampabilities and I used Christmas Red Stickles.  The button is from my stash of goodies.

*I decided to go with "non-traditional" colors for the smaller card and used hot pink accents. The trees were cut at 4 inches and I used hot pink paper with Diamond Stickles for the trim.  The pink gems were from the dollar bin at Michel's.  I also added a hot pink envelope to use with this card.  I really like this card!

After finishing the 2 cards, I had just a few small scraps left...so...I flipped through my handbook and found that this cart also has some great tags.  I was able to make two great little gift tags, using up all my scraps!

Christmas Glass Block and Ornaments

Well, we are finally getting some cooler weather here in the deep south and I think it may be getting me in the mood to work on some Christmas projects!  I have been working on these simple, but cute Christmas ornaments for all my nieces and nephews.  They turned out really cute so I thought I would go ahead and make a matching glass block for my brother and sister.

* Clear Ornaments - Michaels
* Glass Block - Hobby Lobby
* Ribbon - Michaels
* Vinyl - red, apple green and holly green
* Cricut Cartridges - George (circles) Alphalicious and Ashlyn's Alphabet (letters)

I used etching cream all over the front and back of the glass block before applying the vinyl.  The instructions on the cream will tell you that it only takes about 10 minutes....wrong!  Plan on leaving the cream on for a good 40 - 50 minutes to get good results, and put the cream on really, really thick.

[Close up of ornaments]
I am going to enter this project at Fantabulous Challenge Me Monday #35.  Projects for this challenge must have something green and a circle so I think I have that part covered!  I hope to have more Christmas projects posted soon, as always thanks for stopping by!

Snow Angel Christmas Card

This is my first Christmas card made entirely with an Imagine cartridge and I really like the way it turned out.
Steps:
1.  I cut the girl in the sleigh figure using the "layers" option at 3 inches, I can't remember the measurement for the deer, but I did have to size him down in order for him to be proportional to the sleigh. I cut 2 or 3 layers of each piece to give the design some dimension.
2.  I added snowflakes (cut from a punch) and faux stitching to the background paper.  Rhinestones were added to the center of each snowflake.  For the bottom half of the background, I cut a piece of glittery white paper and ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Divine Swirls folder.
3.  I glued my layers together, leaving off the top mitten on the girl's hand and pop-dotted everything to the card.  I tied small bells to a piece of white cord to run from the deer to the girl's hands to look like reins. Then I glued the other mitten on top to cover the reins.  I cut a small scrap to make a collar for the deer to cover those reins.
4.  Finishing touches - lots of Stickles on the sleigh and deer's blanket.  I also added gems to the center of each flower on the sleigh and to the deer's collar.

Inside of card

I cut a second, small deer and added him to the inside of the card.  I used a stamp from Michael's dollar bin and inked up the edges of the card.

I plan to submit this card to the "Letter S" Challenge on the Cricut Cardz Blog

Turkey Time

I just used this cute little turkey on the card I posted yesterday, but I really like him and think he is great for the 2 challenges I will enter him in this week.  One of the things that is so great about crafting is that you can start with the same basics over and over and get a totally different look each time. By using a patterned paper on the turkey this time, I think he looks much different from the turkey I posted yesterday using solid paper.  Ok...you can tell they are related (maybe cousins), but definitely not twins!

*Challenge #1 - Cricut Circle Blog Challenge Friday:  "Feathered Friends"
This challenge was to include a bird (of course), two cricut cuts and stitching.

*Challenge #2 - Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog - "Bird Bonanza"
This challenge was to include a bird (again...of course) and at least one cricut cut.

My Recipe:

Papers - DCWV - Autumn Splendor (beautiful paper)
Turkey - Celebrate With Flourish cut at 4 1/4 inches
Sentiment Label - Mini Monogram cut at 3 inches, shadow at 3 1/2 inches
Stamp - Hero Arts
Inking - Copic Markers and Ranger Inks
Glitter - Martha Stewart
Zig-Zag stitching with brown thread
Gems - from my stash

As always, thanks for taking the time to check out my latest project.  I appreciate any comments, suggestions or tips you would like to share!

"To every thing there is a season..."

Fall has finally arrived in my neck of the woods!  It takes awhile for the fall season to hit LA...(Lower Alabama), but I think it is finally on it's way.  This time of year always makes me think of one of  my favorite passages from the Bible.  This passage is from Ecclesiastes 3...

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

This is the time of year when we need to reflect on our many blessings and the good things in our lives.  I made a few simple fall cards to send to some of the "blessings" in my life and wanted to share a couple of them with you...

The owl card is made with the Give a Hoot cartridge from Cricut.  I used a MS punch for the border and I used the Nestabilities Labels 11 die cut for the sentiment tag.  For the turkey card, I used Celebrate With Flourish and lots of Stickles.  The flower, gems, ribbon and buttons were from my craft stash.

Thanks for looking and remember to take the time to count your blessings this season!
