Hello everyone and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner!
Today is Sunday and it's my turn to post on the
Pink By Design blog. I am always so excited to post on the
Pink By Design blog, but also always a bit nervous at the same time! The talent over there is just amazing (it's a good thing they are also so sweet and encouraging)! If you ever feel the need for inspiration or motivation,
this is the the place to visit!
So...time to share my project with you!
I don't know about you, but I am so ready for fall! However, with temps still in the 90's here in LA (lower Alabama) we still have a ways to go before fall weather arrives. School started back last week and it just seems as if fall should start at the same time. As most of you know, my granddaughter started the first grade this year (I will not cry, I will not cry). I wanted to create something for her to share with the class, but also something that would remind her throughout her day that her Nonna is thinking about her. Since Hand Sanitizer is on the school supply list of pretty much every kid in this country, I decided to go that route. So...I picked up the jumbo, 64 ounce version (hey, if you're gonna do it, do it right!) and got busy. Here's what I came up with....
The toughest part about this whole project was removing the store label from the bottle! I peeled off what I could, then sprayed the remaining pieces with Goo Gone, let that soak in for a few seconds, then scrubbed like a crazy woman while holding the bottle under warm running water. That got all the label and sticky off, but left a greasy residue. That was a pretty easy fix, plain old rubbing alcohol on a paper towel cleaned it up pretty quickly. Now, finally time to play!
I used the Cricut cartridge Doodlecharms and vinyl in orange, yellow, green and brown to cut out my leaves for the bottle. I cut the leaves in various sizes from 1.25 to 1.75 inches, peeled off the paper backing and applied them to the bottle. I also used a hole punch on the scraps and made a few little circles to scatter among the leaves. Quick and simple!
Now...on to the tag. I started with a #8-size manila tag from Inkssentials. Then things got a little bit messy....
I finally got to play with my new Distress Stains from Ranger! So, I used Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Antique Linen on my tag. I just applied each color in circular patterns, then spritzed the tag with my water mister and left it to dry. Once the tag was dry, it was time to add my stamp...
I used this fabulous Gingham background stamp from
Pink by Design and inked it up using Ranger's Orange Marmalade ink. I stamped my tag making sure to cover the upper portion. Notice that the bottom inch or so of the tag is not stamped, but that's ok, it won't be seen once the tag is completed!
After all the ink is dry, it's time to decorate the tag...
My cute little scarecrow is from Cricut's
Simply Charmed cartridge and I cut him out at 4.25 inches. I inked up all the pieces, assembled my little guy and added some doodles with a white gel pen. The grass is created with the Martha Stewart punch
Drippy Goo and
the sentiment is from the
Pink By Design stamp set
Simply Everything. I created the small leaves using the same inking method I used on the tag. This time I used the inks on a piece of off-white cardstock. After drying, I placed my inked up cardstock on my Cricut mat and cut my leaves (again using Doodlecharms) at .5 and .75 inches. The final touch on my tag is that gorgeous, deep orange crinkle ribbon, also available at the
Pink By Design Store. Next, just loop your ribbon around the top of the bottle....

And there you have it, something the whole first grade class can use and something to make Emma smile! I hope you have enjoyed my project today and I appreciate your stopping by! I always look forward to your visits and you kind comments!
Until next time,
