Hoppy-est Birthday Card

Ok...I think I'm on a creative roll now...totally getting out of the "Christmas Mode" now....yippee!

One of my New Years "scrapping" resolutions is to use more of the supplies that I have on hand and to buy less "stuff".  My 6 year granddaughter asked me a very good question a couple of days ago...Nonna, why do you have sooooo much stuff?  What are you going to do with it? Hmmmmm...I really do need to use up some of what I have so that I can justify buying more.  That said....I used the scraps from the card I made in my previous post (Hey Cupcake) to make this cute little card...

The cute little frog is from Cricut "Create A Critter" cut at 3 1/2 inches
Ribbon and Stickles are from my stash (yea me!)
I used Glossy Accents on his eyes
The stamp is from My Pink Stamper (already on hand...yippee)
The mat for sentiment is cut from Nestabilites (also already on hand)

Hey Cupcake!

I don't know about everyone else, but I seem to be stuck in "Christmas Mode".  I have been working on Christmas cards and gifts for so long, I don't seem to be able to think outside red and green color schemes!  When I need some inspiration, it always helps to visit some of my favorite blogs and to check out the newest challenges.  At Mojo Mondays  http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/  the current challenge is to use squares or circles on your card and I thought I would give this one a try.

My paper is from DCWV - "Nanna's Kitchen"
I cut 4 circles and inked them with Rangers "Barn Door" red
The scalloped circles in the center are from Cricut "Mini Monogram" also inked in red
Cupcake is from Cricut "From My Kitchen" I used Glossy Accents on the cherry and stickles on the cupcake wrapper.

This is a simple card, but I think working on it has helped me put Christmas projects behind me for now!
As always, I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.

Christmas 2010 Was Wonderful!

I hope that you and your families all had a wonderful Christmas Holiday!  My family and I had a great time!  We were not all able to be together at the same time (hate that), but it was ok...we just celebrated every time someone showed up!  My hubby got us another HUGE tree this year.  This one was around 12 feet tall!  I can't tell you how many times I moved the ladder (yet again) to decorate this large tree.

Yippee....they're here!  Christopher (my oldest), his wife Elizabeth and my cutie pie grandson, Blake!

My youngest (Matthew) made it home and my sweet granddaughter (Emma) became his shadow!  She loves her Uncle Matt Matt.  Of course it didn't hurt that he came bearing gifts...Epic Mickey was a huge hit!

It was such a joy to see the expressions on faces of my grandchildren the during this special time of year!  Here they are just having an awesome time playing with the empty boxes, paper and bows...who needed gifts?

I truly hope that you all had a great time with loved ones during this season and made lots of priceless memories!  Now it's time to get ready for a New Year and work on those resolutions for the coming year.  I have a couple of resolutions pertaining to scrapping that I am going to share with you.........

1.  Really, really, really cut back on the amount of money I spend on crafting supplies ( ok, ok, I make this one just about every year, but this time I REALLY mean it)!  It's time to try using some of the stuff I actually already own...hmmmmm...who knows what is in all the nooks and crannies of my craft room!  :0)

2.  I also plan to get very busy on scrapping pictures that haven't seen the light of day in years!  I have boxes and boxes of pics that are just begging to be added to a layout all their own.  My grandson is almost 2 years old and his scrapbook is up to about 2 months old...got to get busy!

Ok, that's it for now...I hope to have some scrapbook layouts (made with supplies I have on hand) to share with you in a few days!  Hope you all enjoy a happy, safe New Years and thanks for stopping by!

"Christmas is Grand" Mini Memory Album

Hello Everyone!  Did you hear the big sigh of relief from me a couple of hours ago?  I finally finished what I "think" is the last handmade gift of this season!  I say this knowing that it's probably not true, but I'm hopeful that I haven't forgotten anyone at this point!  Anyway, this gift is going to a very good friend who loves, loves, loves her grandchildren!  I know she always looks forward to spending the holidays with them and will enjoy adding her Christmas pictures of her little ones to this cute little album!

I started out with one of those little mini chipboard albums from Michael's dollar bin.  This one is 6 inches by 6 inches.  I covered front and back of each page in cute Christmas paper from DCVW and K & Company.  Then I sanded and inked all the edges.  For the cover page, I used a computer generated sentiment "Christmas is Grand" and cut it out using a Nestabilities die cut.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but in each corner I placed a bell that is made into a brad...very cute!

Pages 1 and 2 - I ran my picture mats through the Cuttlebug, inked the edges and added some ribbon on the corners.  The stockings are cut from metallic paper and are very shiny!  These cuts are from "Jolly Holidays".

Pages 3 and 4 - I used coordinating paper and added a ribbon to cover where they join.  The picture mats are cut from metallic paper and Nestabilities.  The snowmen are from "Winter Frolic".  I added goggle eyes and lots of Stickles and pop-dotted them up.  The snowflakes are from an old punch that I have had for years.  I added Stickles to the center of each snowflake.

Pages 5 and 6 - I think these are my favorite pages because I just love this Santa!  I double matted the photo mat, adding faux stitching lines and ribbon on the corners.  The reindeer is from "Doddlecharms".  I used some beads for his eyes and red Stickles for his nose.  The Santa is also from "Doddlecharms".  I used red metallic paper for his hat and ran his beard through my Cuttlebug using "Divine Swirls".  I added MS glitter to the white parts of his hat and the snowflakes are buttons.  The mat under Santa was cut from the pre- loaded designs on the Imagine and of course I inked up everything!

Pages 7 and 8 - I was also very pleased with how these pages turned out!  I double matted and inked up the photo mats, using brads in the corners.  The Christmas tree and presents are all cut from "Winter Frolic".  I used lots of Stickles and Glossy Accents on the tree and gifts.

Back Cover -  For the back of this memory book, I stitched a pocket on my sewing machine to hold a journaling tag.  This way, my friend can jot down dates, places and any info she would like to remember about this Christmas with her grands.  The tag is cut from the tag feature on "Winter Frolic" as is the phrase "Sweet Memories".  The holly is from a MS punch.  I added Stickles for the holly berries and Glossy Accents to the holly leaves.  Ribbon and a large button topped everything off!

Now to get this wrapped and into the mail...I hope my special friend enjoys this gift.  Mini albums are one of my favorite things to make...so many options!  I hope you enjoyed my mini album!  Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful day!

Imagine that....gift tags using Snow Angel

I don't know about you, but I have a bad habit of ordering new cartridges for that "one special cut" and not really exploring the cartridge to see just what it has to offer.  I find this to be especially true for my Imagine cartridges.  So, I set a challenge for myself...pick out one Imagine cart, sit down, and using just this cartridge, see what I can come up with!  Knowing that I needed to get busy on gift tags for Christmas presents, I chose Snow Angel with the goal of getting some gift tags knocked out.  I managed to complete 10 tags before I got too figetey (is that a real word?).

The base for the tags are made from the preloaded designs on the Imagine.  I also used a lot of ink, stickles and gems to add some bling.  Cuttlebug folders also added some umph to the backgrounds.  Punch a hole, add some ribbon and there you go!  I think they turned out pretty cute. Now I have to get out of my crafting costume (otherwise known as jammies), brave the mall and actually buy the gifts these tags will one day be attached to.....

Thanks for stopping by!

Inspired Heart ...

I finally had a chance to play with the second Cricut Lite Cartridge that my sweet Hubby picked up for me on Black Friday.  He brought home Inspired Heart for me ....just because he thought I would like it!  He was right!  The cuts on this cart are very simple, but they have a very elegant feel to them.

I am not the best photographer in the world (no...really...I'm not).  I tried several shots and always managed to get a glare off the metallic paper.  I finally tried turning the card sideways...this worked somewhat better.  I hope that you can see the card ok.  Got to work on my photography skills!

Recipe

*Paper - My Mind's Eye - Countdown to Christmas
Metallic Paper - American Crafts Specialty Paper

* Inspired Heart Cartridge - Nativity Scene cut at 3 inches

I will posting this http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/  for the Christmas Carol Inspired Challenge    #27
