It's A Girl Thing

Hello everyone!
Yay...it's Friday (at least for a few more minutes in my time zone)! What are your weekend plans?  My big plan for tomorrow is to stay in my jammies as long as possible and craft my morning away! I really need to get out in my yard and start some major "spring cleaning", but I'm not real sure that is actually going to happen (in fact, I'm pretty sure that it will not).

Before I show you the card I made for today's post, I would like to share with you the story behind it.  Many of you that follow my blog have read about the sweet girl at my church, Trinitie, who is in the middle of radiation and chemo treatments for a rare type of brain cancer.  Trinitie is doing really well at this point and continues to be so strong and brave.  Today I want to share the story of another awesome young lady who attends our church.  Lauren Thompson is an 8 year old sweetheart who just also happens to be a fabulous athlete.  She is putting her talent to the test to help raise money for her friend Trinitie!  Lauren completed in a free-throw contest that took place in Birmingham, AL.  She not only scored 23 out of 25 free-throws, she raised over 5,000 dollars in pledges for Trinitie!  How awesome is that!  Here's a photo of Lauren at work...

Winning the competition in Birmingham allows Lauren to move on to a regional contest that will take place in Georgia.  There she will compete against kids from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi.  How awesome is this girl?  If you would like to read more about Lauren, click HERE.

I'm not sure just how many boys Lauren beat out to win a spot in the regional competition, but I'm sure it was quite a few!  I kept that thought in mind while I put together a fun, girly card for this special young lady...

How's that for "girly athletic"?
I think this suits Lauren's style completely...she's a fabulous athletic and an adorable girly-girl!

Recipe:
* Printed paper - My Mind's Eye - "Summer Song"
* Basketball goal - Cricut's "Boys Will Be Boys" cut at 4.5 inches
* Sentiment - Pink By Design stamp set "All Girl"
* Ink - Distress Ink "Worn Lipstick"

Here's the inside of my card....

I can't wait to give Lauren this card on Sunday!  I just think she is an amazing young lady, using the gift God gave her to help out a friend in need...how fabulous is that?  You go Lauren ♥

Until next time,
