So, this morning was spent working on this card for the challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot http://thecuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/. This week's challenge was to create a project inspired by a book.
Now, I love to read...it's right up there on the list of "My favorite things to do". So my mind started going over all the great books that I have read. It just so happens that I also just started my "Read the Bible in a year" challenge at church...so I thought these 2 challenges would work really well hand in hand. With all that in mind, this is what I came up with:
Recipe
*All the cuts on this card are from the new seasonal Cricut cartridge - April Showers
*I started with an 8 x 5 base card and cut 2 strips of paper, one from blue and one from the green print. I adhered these to a darker blue base and used my sewing machine to stitch them on.
*The tree is cut at 4/12 inches and the trunk is run through the Cuttlebug using Distressed Stripes. The top of the tree is embossed with Divine Swirls. I also inked the trunk and tree top using Ranger Inks.
*The house is cut at 3 1/2 inches. I ran the roof portion of the house through the Cuttlebug using Preserves folder and the blue portion using Polkadot. I also inked these pieces. The house still seemed a bit plain to me, so I added a gold brad for the doorknob. I wanted a wreath for the door, so I used a Martha Stewart border punch that had flowers on it and cut it apart, added a pearl in the middle and....ta da!
*The bike was cut at a very teeny, tiny 1 1/4". I cut it twice, once in pink and once in black. Then I cut apart the tires and adhered them to the pink bike. I covered the bike in Glossy Accents to make it shine and to make is a bit more durable. **Helpful hint..when cutting something as tiny and skinny as this bike, slow the speed down on your Cricut to the slowest speed...it helps!
*The inside of the card reads: I will rejoice and be glad in it!
Hope you have a wonderful. Thanks for dropping in!
