Monster Hugs!

Good morning everyone and happy Friday to you!
Today is my first post as a Design Team member with My Cricut Craft Room and I'm really excited to share my card with you.  If you aren't familiar with My Cricut Craft Room, I hope you will stop by and pay Erica and her wonderful Design Team a visit.  Erica has a different theme for each day of the week and you just never know what you will find!
Today's theme is Festive Fridays.  Now, I don't know about you, but to me, that just sounds like fun! Festive Fridays are set aside to create a project for the holidays, so you may see projects for Halloween or Thanksgiving or maybe Christmas.  With the upcoming holiday season, this is a great place to visit and get that inspiration going!

So...what better time to start on my Halloween projects?  I created a cute little monster to share with you today....

Isn't he cute?
Ok, let me tell you how I put this card together.  I started with this wonderful lime green card base that I purchased at Michael's. I love the color and it was on sale (my favorite combination)!

Layers:
*The cute polka dot paper was left over from last years Halloween stash and I don't remember the name (sorry).
*I created that bright orange mat using Elegant Edges.  I used the Oblong and Shift key features to cut the image from page 37 at 5.25 inches.  Next, I ran the mat through my Cuttlebug using the Spots & Dots folder.  The edges were inked up using Rangers Spiced Marmalade ink.

Monster:
*For this cute little guy, I used Mini Monsters.  I chose the little monster from page 30 and cut him out at 4 inches.  I cut two of the bottom layer and I used pop-dots between those two layers to create a bit of dimension and make my monster pop up from the card a bit.
*The orange sections of the monster were covered with Martha Stewart's glitter in Orange Sorbet.
*Instead of using those tiny little cuts for his eyes, I used google eyes...much easier to work with!
*I also added Glossy Accents to the mouth for some shine.

Here's a close up of my monster....

Sentiment Tag...
*The tag is cut using Nestablitites Ribbon Tag Trio die cut.
*The sentiment is from the Pink By Design stamp set Ghostly Greetings.
*After stamping my tag, I ran white ribbon through the ends and added purple gems.
*I used a white gel pen to add a few dots to the tag and stitching lines around the card.

I always like to finish up the inside of my cards too....

*For the center, I used the polka dot paper again along with a white mat.  I inked up the white mat with this great purple ink by Ranger and added a candy corn brad (again from my Halloween stash).

And here's one more shot....

And, that's my project for today's Festive Fridays.  Be sure to stop by My Cricut Craft Room and see what the other designers have in store for you today!

Until next time,

  5. Your card made me SMILE ~ your little monster is so stinking cute!!! You have use lots of different elements that I enjoy - glitter, eyes and cuttlebug folder. Did you cut the glitter paper with your Cricut? A friend of mine did and she said that she had glitter everwhere. She was thinking that maybe the paper she used was cheap. What do you think? Let me know on Erica's FB page. THANKS!
